Funny Facebook status ideas

Recently, I've been scouring the internet, hubpages and Google for some funny Facebook status ideas. I love changing my status on Facebook (I do it roughly four times per day), and I absolutely adore it when my friends click 'like' on my status or better still, leave a comment to me. So...what have I found from my in-depth research?

The research

There are lots of websites which offer advice on how to write funny Facebook statuses or updates. I've boiled these down to a few different categories, and today I'm going to talk about three – the special character, statuses which include puns or witty gags, and finally...more cool special characters!

There are few things that make people interact with you more than nationalism. The good old US of A has some of the most fervent supporters of the nation in any country on earth, so why not bring a little chit chat about old glory? The stars and stripes is one of the most recognizable symbols in the world, and a little humour about it will get your friends talking and the 'likes' coming! This particular symbol also includes the Facebook star emoticon symbol, which will make all of your friends ask you 'who do I do that'?! It's a win-win.

Example number 2 – Reality humour

Example: I can't decide between the “Starts tomorrow” diet and the “see-food” diet. Any ideas?

Whenever I read a Facebook status update written by a friend which says something like 'I'm going to the gym now!' or 'I feel so great now since I went for a jog for 2 hours this morning! Wow!', it makes me feel sick. Sick of the smug nature of their messages – sick of the fact that other people have WAY more willpower than me! So what is the way to counter these fools? By keeping it real! This example status perfectly sums up my attitude towards weight-loss, and I think that if I share this with other people, they'll have a chuckle about it too.

Example number 3 – The Facebook status hoax

Example: Steve is uploading a virus ████████████ 83%

Ever since the famous Youtube hoax videos came out a few years ago, the whole web has been transfixed with trying to trick or fool your friends. Well now you can add a whole new world of tricks to your Facebook status! This one might make you think that someone is uploading a virus to your computer, but obviously there's nothing going on...but it might make people think!

So here are three funny Facebook status ideas, I'm sure you can think of a lot more!
