How to order KFC delivery in China
By facebookchat
Sticky fingers taste good!
Ordering delivery food in China is easier than any other city in the world, and the number of 24hour delivery services is growing every day. When I first arrived in the country, I expected it to be really difficult to order delivery food such as KFC or McDonald’s in China, but actually these global corporations have been fighting for market share in the major cities, which has led to a superb level of customer support and quality of product (because they both want to be the best!).
So how do you go about ordering from KFC? Is it as easy as McDonald’s? Well…it is as easy, but it’s not as good. Let me walk you through it:
1) Calling the KFC call centre
Before you can have a delivery, you need to find out the KFC China delivery phone number! Luckily, I’ve done this work for you – it’s 4008-823-823! The phone should now be ringing…
2) Selecting English language for the person on the other end of the phone
For those expats or foreigners who are living in China, the constant fear of the person on the phone only being able to speak Chinese is something we live with on a daily basis. Fortunately, if you just say “I’d like to make an order for delivery” or something similar, they will put you straight through to an English speaking representative!
3) Register your delivery address
You now need to register the address of the house that you’re calling from, so they know who to give the food to! This also means that you can register your house to your mobile phone. This is very useful because sometimes you want to order food on the way home, so you don’t need to wait so long!
After you tell the person on the phone your address, they will confirm that there is a restaurant within range of your house. Then…it’s time for you to…
4) Order your food!
You can order nearly anything you want from the KFC menu, including chicken, wings, corn, potato, beef tacos…but you can not order French fries! This is an issue with delivery and the food arriving cold (I think), but it’s a bit annoying because sometimes you just really CRAVE those fries. Oh well….
5) Confirmation of your KFC order
They will confirm with you that you have ordered a huge amount (!) and then tell you the cost. Here comes the food!
6) Enjoy your Chinese KFC!
The food should arrive within 30 minutes, but just like McDonald’s they will probably tell you that the food will take 45 minutes just so that they are not late.
Some of the advantages over McDonald’s are:
- You can buy fresher / healthier items (well – mashed potato is a vegetable, right?)
- You can take advantage of some great deals on chicken buckets (ask the rep on the phone for current offers)
However, McDonald’s beats KFC Shanghai on the following:
- McDonald’s sells fries! What an oversight by KFC….
- KFC is not 24 hours a day, it stops taking delivery orders at 10pm. Crazy!
Anyway, if you’re reading this then you’re probably hungry – so enjoy your Chinese KFC dinner, delivered hot and fresh to your door!

dude.. do you work for kfc?..if not,, you should! haha
thanks for the info
just to enlighten anyone reading this post who might be half expecting or hoping for any kind of adequate service in china... forget it! it doesnt exist in china.
i just called up the number given above, here's what happened
i asked for a delivery and was told someone will call me back!
i waited 5 mins and no call back, i did this 5 times and still no call back, just said "call u back" and hung up. i then complained about this and was put on hold for a further 5 mins.
i was then connected to someone who took 20 mins to actually understand what i wanted to order.. which was just a regular chicken burger and 3 pieces of chicken breast.
i was then called back 10 mins later to be told my address is not in their delivery area, and i know that 15 mins walk from my house there is a kfc with delivery bikes outside all the time.
good people of the world who live in china.. dont waste your time trying to get kfc to deliver.. it will turn your hair grey!
now ordering macdonalds.....4008517517!
Not a big fan of KFC but it is good to know that they have a 24/7 service. I guess it helps the tourists or people came from other countries for whatever reasons. Thanks for the hub.
Ill remember it when ill go to China..
They said they my location is not listed in their system, yet I see the kfc delivery guy everyday delivering in our compound. I miss America :(
I jst tried calling them twice, first time the girl could say "I cannot take your order" as she was not able to speak any more than this, 2nd time the guy said "I speak Chinese, I will get someone to call you back" as of yet no response.....
In my experience China is certainly NOT the easiest place to order delivery. Here's why:
1) Virtually no restaurant accepts credit cards for payment in China. If you're out of cash, you're out of luck. (In the US I used to never carry cash around and just use my debit card for everything. Try that in China!)
2) Many restaurants in China only deliver to a small area. They delivery people ride on bikes. In the US most delivery people outside of the downtown areas of cities use cars, expanding their reasonable delivery ranges immensely.
3a) In America you can order online in many cities. There are large websites that list dozens if not HUNDREDS of restaurants that will deliver to a single address (e.g. grubhub.com, campusfood.com). I'd love to have a similar site in China but I won't hold my breath.
3b) Even if you can't order it online directly, America has many websites that will list menus, hours of operation and phone numbers for thousands of local restaurants (e.g. Yelp.com).
4) Many restaurants in China don't have English-speaking staff.
5) Restaurants with central delivery dispatch can't always find you on a map. This applies to KFC, Papa John's and I'm assuming the rest of the "Yum!" conglomerate chains. If your address doesn't show up as valid in their system, they won't deliver to you, and they don't have the number of your local branch to allow you to call them directly. Lame.
guys i wanna ask is kfc is ok 4 muslims in beijing i mean d way they slaughter chicken is it halal or not
To Zac:
1) Why should they for delivery? Actually every delivery I've ordered in the US / UK / any other country have always rrequired cash payment. Actually the restaurants do take credit card, delivery no but then that's normal.
2) Have you ever tried driving a car round Shanghai or Beijing? A bike is much MUCH quicker than by car. If they delivered by car they'd turn around half way through delivery and give up on you.
3) you can order online in China in both Chinese and English and they have full menu with prices www.4008823823.com.cn
4) How many restaurants in America have Chinese speaking staff you arrogant ****
Richard:
1) My experiences have been different from yours apparently; when I lived in Boston I almost always used a credit card when I ordered delivery. All you have to do is tell them your CC# on the phone when you order it and they'll just ring it up and bring you the receipt to sign. I never had a problem doing that. ALSO, there are many more restaurants which allow you to order 100% online, which of course uses credit cards.
2) The point isn't the method of travel, it's the delivery radius. There are restaurants a few blocks away from me which won't deliver because I'm too far away. In my experience in America, the delivery radius was much larger and therefore there were many more delivery options. I'm not saying there's not a good reason for the way it is in China, I'm just refuting the argument that "Ordering delivery food in China is easier than any other city [sic] in the world."
3) That website is for KFC only. Check out this URL: http://www.foodler.com/MA/Boston.html . That's HUNDREDS of restaurants available in once city for online ordering and delivery!
4) That's a fair point, I guess the question is "easier for foreigners or easier for locals," although the ad hominem attack is a bit childish, don't you think?
I don't see why people get so upset about some fast-food delivery. Just order some chinese food which are 10 times healthier and cheaper than that mc/kfc junk.
Zac, it's kinda scary to know how "easy" you can order fast-food now in the US. Almost half of the population there are already overweight. How lazy can a person be if a KFC restaurant is only 10 to 15 min away from their home...
Just placed an order :)
Things went VERY VERY smooth - exelent service indeed.
Wow! What is wrong with people??? It all depends on where you are in the country!!! It is incredibly EASY to get food delivered in NEW YORK! Credit cards are used all the time and the food is delivered in cars or motorcycles which helps with traffic. Beijing is not the only city that has traffic. From my experience, it isn't as easy to get food delivered in Beijing. This is absolutely TRUE. There might not be Chinese speaking staff at every restaurant in New York (as an example)but if you call a Chinese restaurant it is very possible that there is a Chinese speaking person there. So, bottom line, China is definitely not the easiest place to get food delivered. Everyone can have good and bad experiences. No place is perfect. Don't get so worked up, not everyone has the same experience.
hi thankyou so much for this i am a KFC addict and just can't go without it and it is sooo much easier here when i don't even have to get up off my but to get fed!!! thanks
I feel that there is a conflict between the first sentence and the ordering steps 2 - 5...!!! Isn't..??
"Ordering delivery food in China is easier than any other city in the world..." I think that word 'city' has to be 'country'. "When I first arrived in the country..." it will better that you suppose mentioned the city name even it is showing in your profile. Hope that you are a Chinese. Anyhow.. stright away saying my thoughts, you can say that ordering in KFC is much easier in China, but please do not use 'THAN ANY PART IN THE WORLD', because this does not sound good.. :(
Most splendid work, ladies and gentlemen. Perfect for when one has the munchies. Splendiferous job Xie xie
Dude Tnks man

Thanks for the post. We usually order from a Chuan Cai restaurant down the street, but sometimes they won't deliver during really busy times, so it's nice to know KFC will. Great post!
hi guys !!
i use to order KFC or MCdonald's in GUANGZHOU, both are good but MCDO is much professional.
During the night time for a foreigner it's more complicate to order KFC, cause most of the time they say to you they will call you back, but i've tried this 20 times, they called me back 4 times...
Anyway it's just food...
Well...this number is not much help in China. They seldom have anyone that can speak English. I had someone call them and they say they do not deliver to Die Hu Wan in Kunshan....and I have seen their delivery people here many times (weekly..sometimes many times a week to other places..their location is less then 1.5 kilometers so find it faster to walk if I get a KFC craving which is about twice a year. I also sent them photos of their drivers with this phone number that deliver in my area and they still maintain they don't deliver..even when I see them on my elevator.
The service is so bad, 4008 823 823. Called then more that 20 in on evening. No English and poor service. Whar a bunch of losers
Ordering kfc can be a big pain in the ass.If you want fast food just go with Mac-D.If there is one in you local town/city.For the people that have not woken up yet YOU ARE IN CHINA! NOT THE US OR SOMEWHERE.
just tried to call kfc, and the person who took the call was incapable to undersytanding any english. so after five frustrating minutes, i asked to speak to the manager. unfortunately, another incompetent person. they both insisted on the address despite my numerous explanation. why evenbother to have a number where people call when you cant handle the call? i called union bar grille i stead, and a very courteous lady answered. she gave me the number for the delivery service, and the whole call was over in less than five minutes. hurrah for service. kfc needs to stop their service, they are incapable of any service.
This is China where more than 90% of the 1.3b people do not speak any English. Hence, will not be so English friendly. I am a native English Speaker. Since I have choosen to come here, I am prepare that language may be an issue; hence is picking up the language now.
if you want to speak english stay in the US. you have come to china, its another country, why should they all speak english and understand you on the phone? you ignorant americans.
currently im in UK but my girl friend in china...sooo my question is,is that possible to me to order some food for my girl friend who is in china.can they deliver the goods to her dormitory.
Guys, it's so easy to order online using the URL posted by somebody above. It's all in English.
Don't even use that number!
what is is wrong with all of this people, i have been in china round 7 month now, since i come to china i have been ordering kfc, and never had isseu with the order, and is faster deliverie than mac, i do order mac too, but they are both easy to order, remember this is china not England or US or europe, there is not such thing of the 8 steps of taking order. it is deferent culture. but yet easy to order.
adel 2 years ago
Thanks a lot
I live in Beijing & I always order food from Mac.. But its a good chance to try KFC in some day! My first time to know that they have an English order system!
